Content Browser Integration

This documentation is for update 2.0+, applied to 5.4+.

This guide provides a detailed overview of how to use the Send to Texture Tools context menu, a powerful feature that deeply integrates the plugin with the Unreal Engine Content Browser. This allows you to kickstart your texturing workflow faster than ever by sending textures directly from the Content Browser into a new, pre-configured job.

1. What is the "Send to Texture Tools" Menu?

The "Send to Texture Tools" is a custom menu that appears when you right-click on a Texture2D asset in the Content Browser. It provides a list of all available Texture Tool jobs, allowing you to instantly create a new job and assign the selected texture(s) as its input.

This feature streamlines your workflow by eliminating the need to:

  1. Open the Texture Tools window manually.

  2. Add a new job.

  3. Drag and drop your texture into the input slot.

Instead, you can do all of this in a single click.

2. How to Use the Context Menu

Using the context menu is simple and intuitive.

Step 1: Select Your Texture(s)

In the Unreal Engine Content Browser, find and select one or more Texture2D assets you want to work with.

Step 2: Right-Click to Open the Menu

Right-click on any of the selected textures to open the asset context menu.

Step 3: Choose Your Job

  1. Hover over the SHADERSOURCE: Texture Tools category to expand it.

  2. Hover over the Send to Texture Tools sub-menu.

  3. A list of all available jobs will appear (e.g., "Send to Job: Blend Texture", "Send to Job: AI Generation", etc.).

  4. Click on the job you want to create.

3. What Happens Next?

When you select a job from the context menu, the following actions happen automatically:

  1. The Texture Tools window opens: If the tool is not already open, it will be launched and brought into focus.

  2. A new job is created: A new job of the type you selected is added to the top of the job queue.

  3. Textures are assigned: The texture(s) you had selected in the Content Browser are automatically assigned to the input slots of the newly created job.

  4. The new job is selected: The new job is automatically selected in the job list, and its properties are displayed in the Details panel, ready for you to configure.

For example, if you select one texture and choose "Send to Job: Modify Texture", the tool will open with a new "Modify Texture" job, and your selected texture will already be loaded into the "INPUT TEXTURE" slot.

This powerful integration makes the Texture Tools plugin feel like a native part of the Unreal Editor, allowing for a seamless and efficient texturing workflow.
