The Material Converter is Experimental and may not work in all scenarios. We plan on further development of this tool in the future as it gets used and tested more.
The Texture Tags are what the tool looks for to determine which Textures to place where in the layers. The tool expects Textures to be named with one of the suffixes in this list and allows you to add more to fit your own naming convention.
Find Textures will search through the Master Material and gather all of the Textures, sorting them based on the layer that they come from. It will then place them in the Found Layers array to allow you to double check that it's all correct before converting.
The Found Layers array uses the data gathered from Find Textures to allow you to modify the Layer Data before converting them into Landscape Layers compatible with the Landscape Material Tool.
The Other Textures array holds extra Textures found in the Master Material from Find Textures that the tool could not identify so that you can manually add them into the new Layers if they are needed.
The Convert to Layers button uses the data in Found Layers to generate Landscape Layer assets that are compatible with the Landscape Material Tool.
It will first ask for an Output Path for the new generated assets.
It will then create the Layer Assets in this location ready to be plugged into a Material created by the Landscape Material Tool.
See this tutorial to see how to set up a new Material with these Layers: Create New Landscape Material with Layers from the Material Converter.
